Ena Rose Daley

July 20, 1926 — February 28, 2021

Ena Rose Daley (nee Johnson) was born on July 20, 1926 to Caroline Poole (d. 1998) and Ferdinand Johnson (d.1963) in the Top Hill District of Manchester, Jamaica. Ena completed school in Manchester before moving to Kingston, Jamaica where she met and married the love of her life Ezra Daley (d.2013). Ena and Ezra, like many Jamaicans in their time took the leap of faith to the United Kingdom where they spent many years working while supporting family back in Jamaica. After returning from England, Mrs. Daley, Ms. D or Aunt Ena as she was affectionately called set up her home along with her husband in the Hermitage community of Kingston, Jamaica where she was a matriarch of not only her family but to so many other families in the community, Aunt Ena raised two lover daughters of her own as well as countless nieces and nephews. Aunt Ena was a pillar in the community, everyone (family, friends, neighbors and even strangers) could count on her for a cup of tea, a cold drink, a plate of food, some love, some advice and if you needed it, some good old Jamaican discipline. Aunt Ena migrated to the United States to live with her daughter Rhoda in the year 2000 where she continued to be a nurturer to each person she met in her newfound home. On February 28, 2021 in her 94th year, Aunt Ena left us to join her husband, mom, dad, brothers and sister who had previously gone ahead to heaven.
She is survived by her daughters Rhoda and Donette, her step-son Fabian, her niece, Ivorine, her great niece Stacy-Ann, her only remaining brother Clivert (Evelyn), her surrogate grand and great grandchildren, Natalie, Jordan and Josiah, countless other nieces, nephews and loved ones who have gained an angel in heaven. We would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love during this difficult time. We would want to believe that aunt Ena is resting in peace but knowing her, since the moment she arrived in heaven, she's put on the kettle, baked a pudding and has been feeding everyone she's met. May her goodness and light continue to shine through all of us.
