Ephlis Washington

ALBANY, NY – Ephlis "Wash" Washington, 74, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sandy Island, SC and was the son of the late Arthur Washington and Josephine Stewart Tucker-Washington. Mr. Washington worked for the New York State Capital District Psychiatric Center until his retirement in 1997. He is survived by his son, Wayne Washington and two grandchildren. He is the uncle of Ruth Gardner, Jo Ann Belt, Doris Butler-Day, Maureen Butler, Timothy Tucker, Barbara Gray, Joe Tucker, Javonne Tucker, Janice Tucker, Erwin Tucker and Twyla Tucker-Coakley. Also surviving are many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Ephlis was predeceased by his sisters, Sarah Gore and Lillie Butler; his brother, James Tucker, Jr. and his brother-in-law, Deacon Leon Butler.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Sandy Island, SC.
