Eric G. Garrett went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Eric .G. Garrett was born from the loving union of J.B. Garrett (deceased 1984) and Millie Garrett on March 25, 1971 in Brooklyn, NY, the second of their two children.
Father, Son, Brother, Friend, and Husband, Eric affectionately known as "Big E" or "E Boogie" held an important place in the lives of many. He grew up in Clinton Hills, Brooklyn, where he learned to face life's everyday challenges with a spirit of self-determination. He loved his family and was loved by many. Eric was a loving, genuine, and honest. He always had a passion for cars and old school music, he loved life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He relocated to Albany NY in the early 90's where he met and married the love of his life Gina Garrett.
Eric was employed and a bus mechanic for Trailways. The later part of his life he spent working at Glenmont Job Corp. He enjoyed working with and mentoring teens. Eric attended P.S.11 elementary school and Sarah J. Hale H.S. He aspired to be the same kind man his father was.
Eric G. Garrett, 46, bid us farewell on Good Friday April 14, 2017. He survived by his wife Gina Garrett. Daughters Nadirah Washington and Jerrayah Dawson both of New York City, Son Nathaniel Washington of Houston, Tx. Step-sons Anairian Kittle and Leshawn Kittle both of Albany NY. Step-daughters Adrienne(Hakeem)Wooten-Mobley, of Albany NY. Shafarial Wooten of MS and eight grandchildren. Mother Millie Garrett of Rembert SC. Sisters Jaavon (Teddy ) Garrett-Collier of Dalzell SC and Diasia S. Ellerbee of Maryland/DC by way of Brooklyn NY. A Special Uncle Lee Garrett of Atlanta Ga and a host of family and friends to cherish his memory. He joins his father J.B., Grandfathers, Grandmothers, and his nephew Ryan J. McClain in eternal peace.
A Home Going service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A time for sharing condolences will be held from 12-2pm on Saturday prior to services.
