Albany- Eric A. Schindler, 65, passed away surrounded by his family at home on Monday June 17, 2024. Born in Mineola Long Island he was the son of June and the late Edward W. Schindler. Eric is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy A. Schindler.
Eric was a 20 year veteran of the Albany Fire Department from March 1991 - June 2011. During his time of service he graduated from Hudson Valley's Paramedic Program and later was promoted to Lieutenant. Eric also served in the Naval Reserves as a PO2 (E5) Corpsman 4th Marine Division from March 1993 to March 2001 receiving an honorable discharge. After retiring from Albany Fire Eric received his Nursing degree and as a registered nurse worked in Albany Medical Center's Emergency department until April of 2019. Eric was a member of the Watervliet Gun Club and enjoyed competitive matches, motorcycle riding and golfing.
In addition to his wife and mother, Eric is survived by his daughter Loreal Froat his grandchildren Branson and Emery Froat and his siblings Edward Schindler, Kurt Schindler and Laura Fisk.
Eric is predeceased by his Father Edward W. Schindler and his sister Jean Cummings.

A celebration of life service will be held on June 24, 2024 at Liberty Church at 1840 Albany Street, Schenectady NY 12304. Calling hours are 5pm - 8pm with the paying of respects from 5pm - 6pm, a service and opportunity to speak of experiences shared from 6pm - 7pm concluding with light refreshments in the church cafe from 7pm - 8pm.
