COLONIE- Ernest V. Barone, Sr., 86 of Colonie passed away on Wednesday September 20, 2006 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Jersey Shore, PA and been a resident of Colonie for most of his life. Ernie was the son of the late Anthony and Nicolina Martino Barone. He served during WWII with the US Coast Guard amphibious forces. While in the European Theatre, he participated in five invasions including Normandy, France. Ernie was a barber and operated Barone's Barber Shop on Fuller Rd. in Colonie for over fifty years. He had also worked for New York Central Railroad and Conrial for forty years. He was a lifetime and charter member of the Colonie Elks #2192, a member of VFW Post 8692 and a social member of the Fuller Rd. Fire Dept.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary Stitting Barone. He is the father of Ernest V. Barone Jr. of Colonie, beloved brother of Mary Garziano of Albany. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by six brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
