In Loving Memory of Reverend Ernest L. Boston
Ernest L. Boston was born on June 6, 1932 in Pompano Beach, Florida to the late Amelia Finkley and Sam Lundy. He made his transition to glory on December 23, 2019.
Ernest will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years Mary A. Boston and his children Ernestine, Sterling (Obdulia), David Kevin (Wendy), Robert, Immanuel, Lola, Loretta, and David James. Ernest will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren and a host of family, friends and colleagues. Ernest was predeceased by his daughter Sandra.
Reverend Boston lived a life dedicated to sharing the grace of God and experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit. His strong faith, personal relationship with God and capacity to love lead him to pastor several churches in Arkansas, and throughout New York including: Ward Chapel AME, Bright Chapel AME (Founder), Saint James AME (Founder), Calvary AME, Israel AME, and Saint John AME among others. Ernest served as a dynamic spiritual counselor, mentor and friend to a multitude of people from many walks of life.
Ernest was a former employee of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. At the height of his career Ernest served as the Head Chaplain at Fishkill Correctional Facility, where he faithfully ministered to believers drawn to God by the need for forgiveness and transformation. Through teaching, worship, discipleship and prayer he encouraged people to grow in faith while behind bars and afterward. Reverend Boston also served on the boards of numerous organizations.
Ernest served two tours of duty in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, until he was Honorably Discharged in 1960. He was a member of The American Legion, Post Number 0203 in Beacon, New York. Ernest L. Boston, 33°, was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Ernest L. Boston will be held on Friday January 17, 2020 at 11:00am at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, 105 Second Street, Albany, New York.
