Ernest P. Dietzel

Colonie- Ernest P. Dietzel, 58, passed away in his sleep at home on Sunday, November 7, 2021, after complications with heart disease. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Paul and Gwendolyn Dietzel.

Ernest worked for thirty years at the NYS Tax and Finance Department in Albany before his retirement. He was a past Chief of the Stanford Heights Fire Department in Colonie where he held many titles throughout his years volunteering.
Ernest enjoyed camping and boating at Sacandaga Lake, as well as playing poker Sunday nights with his firehouse brothers.

Ernest is survived by his loving daughter Shannon Dietzel. Ernest is also survived by his brother Roy Dietzel (Barbara). He was also the uncle to Kenneth, Jonathan, Michael, and Melissa, along with his great nephew and nieces Wesley, Harper and Lillian.
Ernest will be missed by countless friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Ernest is predeceased by his sister Beverly Hammond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stanford Heights Fire Department in Ernest's name.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 12pm-3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road,Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10am at the funeral home with interment following at Memory Gardens.
