Ernst Gerstenberger

Ernst "Ernie" Gerstenberger, 57, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Ernie was born in Albany to Irene (Borghardt) Gerstenberger and the late Gerhard E. Gerstenberger. Ernie loved his New York teams, especially the Yankees and the Giants. He enjoyed listening to music, watching soccer and having Barbeques, he was the "king of meat", and mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Tess Gerstenberger; two daughters, Jennifer and Megan; his sister and best friend, Renate (Terry) Criscone; his brother Rudi (Mary Ann) Gerstenberger; his nieces and nephews, Christy, Tonia, Cassandra, Paul and John. He is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, cousins and his dearest friend, "Bong".
The family would like to thank the staff with Schenectady County hospice and Dr. Tariq with Albany Medical Center for all of their care and compassion given to Ernie.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
