RAVENA - Esther M. (Allamena) Iatauro, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2016 at her daughter's home in Ravena, New York.
Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Frank J. and Johanna (DiBenedetti) Allamena. Also preceding her in death were her brothers and sisters; baby Ester, Daniel, Ruth, Paul and Mary. She was a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School and worked at Woolworth's Soda Fountain; in the legislature for Governor Dewey; at Smithtown Hospital as a Nurse's Aide; as a House Mother at Stony Brook Girls' School and was an in-home caregiver of many others. In her lifetime she resided in Long Island, Manhattan and Schroon Lake.
Her dear husband of fifty years, Antonio Iatauro, also preceded her in death. She was a devoted mother of Joann L. Palmer, Joseph A. Iatauro (Elaine), Elizabeth J. Iatauro. Loving Grandmother of Seth R. Palmer (Bianca), Bradford A. Palmer (Kimberly), Joseph A. Iatauro, Jr. (Amy), and Heather R.C. Iatauro-Mowles (Gregory). Joyful Great-Grandmother to Breyson Daniel, Luke Anthony, Madelyn Mae, Emma Elizabeth, Haley Lynn, Luke Anthony Edwin, Gabriella Elizabeth and Shay Gregory. She is also survived by many caring nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Capital Church (formerly Colonie Christian Life Center), 31 Vly Road, Colonie, NY 12205 telephone 518-456-3022, with Pastor David Mazzella officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Albany.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the building fund at Capital Church.
