Eugene A. Carota

SCHENECTADY – Eugene Anthony Carota, 83, passed away peacefully at the Stratton VA Medical Center surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 1, 2011. Born in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria Carota.
Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved to spend time with his family, sing and play the guitar, and was an avid fisherman with a great love of the outdoors.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of over 48 years, Judy A. Carota; children BettyAnn (Paul) Anderson, Patricia Carota, Vincent Carota, Gina (Michael) Gaffney, Therese (Skip) Rivenburgh, and Gene Michael (Holly) Carota; grandchildren Christopher, Charise, Stephanie, Jason, Steven (Lauren), Matthew, Michelle, Anthony, Nicole, Joshua M., Joshua, Sydney, Gabriella, and Emily; great grandchildren Nikari, Nakai, Nevaeh, Steven III, Grayson, and his sister-in-law Mary (Leonard) Carota.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by two infant brothers, his brothers, Anthony, Ernest, Alfredo, Ermino, Patrick, Nicholas, Leonard, one sister, Mary Choppa, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Jordan.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stratton VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 in Eugene's name.
