Eugene A. Fisch, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Attilio and Catherine (Freudenthal) Fisch. Eugene was the service manager for many years with Olivetti in Albany and then the President of Colonie Business Machines. He was an active member of Our Lady of Angels Parish Community, honored as the longest tenured usher. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his loving children; Susan (John) Sweeney of Burnt Hills and Michael (Vivian) Fisch of Colonie; he is the cherished grandfather of Timothy Sweeney and Emily (Brian) Fallon; and the loving great-grandfather of Ryan and Dylan Sweeney and Caitlin, Kerrigan and Kelley Fallon. Eugene is also survived by his sister, Margaret Powers, sister-in-law, Janet Fisch and many nieces and nephews.
Eugene was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Catherine A. Fisch and his brothers and sisters, Catherine Denisulk, Attilio Fisch Jr., Mary Fisch and James Fisch.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie then to Christ Our Light Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Terrace at Glen Eddy, Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital and Ellis Hospital for all of their care and compassion they provided Eugene and the family. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in Eugene's memory.
