Eugenia (Jean) Theresa Miele passed away peacefully, with family at her side, at Our Lady of Mercy Care Center in Guilderland, N.Y, on November 4, 2021, at the age of 95.
She was the daughter of the late Michael and Marcella DeMare. She graduated from St Joseph School / Academy in Albany, and attended Siena College in Loudonville. She married Mario L. Miele on June 9, 1951, and had three lovely daughters.
She worked part time as a market researcher, and as Executive Assistant for The New York State Association of Electrical Contractors, and Addressograph / Multigraph, from where she retired.
A longtime communicant of The Church of Saint Margaret Mary / All Saints Catholic Church in Albany, Eugenia was a member of the church's Rosary Society. She also served as a Docent at the Albany Institute of History & Art, and at Proctor's Theater in Schenectady.
Eugenia loved being with her daughters and enjoyed engaging in many of their activities, such as Girl Scouts and 4H Club. She was an excellent cook and made the best lasagna, and spaghetti and meatballs. She was a devoted wife and, while working full time, enjoyed spending time with her family, whether playing cards and bingo or traveling to the family camp in Saranac Lake, or Cape Cod.
For many years, she had monthly get-togethers with five of her dearest friends, some from elementary school, each one hosting an evening of food and conversation, which, when Eugenia was hosting, meant the living room was off limits to the rest of the household! She was an avid bowler, loved playing scrabble and mahjong and worked on her crossword puzzles daily. She loved a nice cup of tea in the afternoon.
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Mario; her sisters Catherine Authier and Marcella Cross; her brothers Salvatore, Nicholas, and Michael DeMare. She is survived by her sister, Louise Draisey; her daughters Kathryn Flett and her husband, Allen, Regina Miele and Mary Miele and her granddaughter Olivia Miele.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to her caregivers and the 'Guad Squad' at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for the excellent and loving care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland NY 2 Mercy Care lane, Guilderland, NY 12084 or the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York 4 Pine West Plaza Ste 405, Albany, NY 12205 in Eugenia's memory.
