ALBANY – Eva D. Roberts, 77, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Eva was born on September 30, 1935 in Clover, VA and was the daughter of the late Marion Coleman Irby and Charles Spurgeon Edmondson. She worked as a housekeeper for Albany Medical Center Hospital for 8 years before retiring in 1996. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and caning her vegetables.
Eva is survived by her stepfather, Thomas O. Irby; her loving children, Vanessa (James Morton) Williams, Charlie "Butch" Roberts Jr., Alvin (Olivia) Roberts and Consoula "Nichell" (Herbert) Darling; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Roberts Sr.; her daughters, twins, Mary and Martha Roberts, Carrie Roberts, Delois Coles and Helen Smith; her stepson, William Carrington; and her great granddaughter, Fayleano Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Union Missionary Baptist Church, 3 Morton Avenue, Albany. Calling hours will precede the service from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be held at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Clover, VA.
