WEST ALBANY – Eva Vermette Little, 102, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Teresian House.
Eva was born on June 11, 1911 in Napierville, Canada and was the daughter of the late Frederick and Emma (Martin) Vermette. At the age of five, Eva and her family moved to Washington, VT until she married Romeo J. Little and moved to West Albany. She worked for Macy's in their cafeteria for over 20 years before retiring at the age of 71.
Her family was the most important part of her life, she made each one feel as though they were her "favorite" whether they were young or old. She was a member of the seniors at St. Francis de Sales Church where she had been an active parishioner for over 70 years until moving into the Teresian House four years ago. She was an avid reader and enjoyed ceramics, gardening and watching and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Eva is survived by her loving daughters, Louise (Steve) Iacabucci, Beatrice (Edward) Mueller and Betsy (Peter) Murray; her daughter-in-law, Bernie Little; her cherished grandchildren, Michael (Gloria), James (Elizabeth), David (Michelle), Rick (Helen), Lauri (Pete), Teri (Mike), Peter (Tami), Louise (Dan), Joseph (Jenn), and Carol (Jeff); 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Romeo, he passed away on June 9, 1964; her son, Joseph Little; and her siblings, Emma, Millia, Frederick, Arthur, Rose, Marie Gilbert, Oliver "Happy", Florence, George, Armond, Louisa Tremblay, Paul and Wilfred.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. A calling hour will precede the Mass on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
