We all walk this earth for a short time, when we lose a loved one we are reminded that there are angels watching over us. We now have one more…
Evangeline Copeland (lovingly known as Vangie) was a caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She left this world suddenly on June 20, 2021 at the age of 72.
Vangie was born on August 6th, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky to Willie and Hazel Thomas. She lived a fulfilling life, attending school in Brooklyn, moving to Ellenville, NY, marrying her husband in 1986 and settling in Albany, NY all while pursuing a successful career in healthcare.
We all knew Vangie loved snapping photos of everyone she knew and enjoyed shopping whenever she could. What some may not have known is that Vangie loved dancing, loved sports, and was an excellent roller skater.
Vangie forever took pride in her work, was very outgoing and friendly with her co-workers, and made a lot of life long friendships. It is impossible to find the right words to express Vangie's passion on life or pay tribute to her spirit.
If Roses Grow in Heaven
By Dolores M. Garcia
If roses grow in heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
Evangeline has been greeted in heaven by her husband, Micheal Copeland, her parents, Willie Thomas and Hazel Burkley Thomas, her younger sister, Vandetta Thomas Hayes, her nephew, Arthur Hayes Jr. and her niece Angel Garrett.
Evangeline is survived by her younger sister and brother in law, Delores Thomas Davis and Cary Davis, her brother-in-law, Arthur Hayes Sr, her daughters, Sherlonda Copeland and Michelle Copeland, her grandchildren, Shanice Watson, Arabia Watson, Keenan Freeman, and Ka'ory White, her nieces, Rhonda Thomas and Tiffany Hayes, her great-nieces, Aisha Hayes, Ronni Garrett, Reanna Garrett, Tiera Diaz, her great-nephew, Rajon Diaz, and a host of cousins, extended family and loved ones.

I'm Free
by Shannon Lee Moseley
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has chosen for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I've found now peace at the end of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Oh yes, these things, I too will l miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
look for the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much;
good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
don't lengthen your time with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and peace to thee,
God wanted me now - He set me free.
