Eve Fantasia

June 20, 1925 — November 28, 2012

Eve M. (Penny), of Altamont, passed away on November 28, 2012 surrounded by her family. Born in New York City on June 20, 1925, Eve was the only child of Andrew and Edith Berger, Hungarian immigrants. Eve graduated from George Washington High School in 1942 and worked in the fashion industry after graduation. In 1947 she married Ernest J. Fantasia, and they lived in the Inwood section of Manhattan. They moved to Brandle Road in Altamont in 1964.

She worked for the University at Albany Education Department for many years and retired from the United University Professions in 1988. Eve was an avid reader of the New York Times and New Yorker magazine, and could fly through a New York Times crossword puzzle in record time. She was a lover of the arts, and enjoyed attending musical events, modern dance, the ballet and visiting art museums whenever she could. Eve especially loved to travel, and spoke often of her trips to visit family in Budapest, England, Paris, Geneva and Vancouver, Canada.

She is survived by her children, Rick Fantasia, of North Hampton, MA. Chrisse A. Rasmussen (Donald) of Brunswick, Lisa J. Bataille (Brian) of Guilderland, Nicholas A. Fantasia (Susan) of Albany and Terese M. (Taffy) Fantasia (Scott), of Kingston. Grandchildren Bryan Rasmussen (Laurie), of Charlton, Matthew Rasmussen, of Brunswick, Caitlin Bataille Welch (Anthony), of Jacksonville, NC, Casey Bataille, of Guilderland, Christopher Bataille (Kristie) of Hinesburg. VT. , Camille and Adele Fantasia, of North Hampton, MA. Ainsley and Parker Dutton of Kingston, and great grandchildren, Fallon Bataille and Aria Welch. An infant child, Peter Fantasia predeceased her.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of her life, on Tuesday, from 4:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Canon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, 12205.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Springs Nursing Home, Marvin Avenue, Troy, NY for all their support.
