JONES, Evelyn A.
SCHENECTADY – Evelyn A. Jones, 76, began her Heavenly journey on Good Friday, April 6, 2012, after a long illness. She passed away peacefully at the Joan Nicole Prince Community home, surrounded by love. Born and raised in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rachel (DeMatteo) Altieri. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School, where she enjoyed basketball and playing the violin in concerts with her sister Lila. Evelyn worked at the Schenectady General Electric as a bookkeeper after high school. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver and enjoyed making wonderful Halloween costumes for her children. Evelyn enjoyed watching the ponies at Saratoga Race Track and had a special love for horses. Her taste in décor was decisively eclectic with a strong oriental influence. She loved and cared for all who needed her.
Evelyn is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda (Thomas) Tuller of North Colonie; her son, Robert (Mary) Jones, Jr. of Wichita, Texas; her former husband, Robert Jones, Sr.; her sister, Lila (Stanley) Such of Watervliet; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Evelyn also leaves behind her handsome constant companion, Fluffy, her cat. She will also be missed by her loved nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her son, Richard Jones; her brother, Donald DeNovio; and her grandson, Joseph Scorza.
Family and friends are invited to memorial calling hours Thursday, from 6 to 7:30pm. A Christian Service will be held the following morning, Friday, at 11:30am, at the funeral home. Interment will follow immediately in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady Community Home, Inc., Joan Nicole Prince Home, P.O.
