Evelyn M. DeGroot, 81, passed away Sunday July 26, 2009 at Teresian House.
Evelyn was born in Albany the daughter of the late Mary and William DeGroot and was a lifelong area resident. Evelyn had worked from a very young age but most recently she was a secretary for both New York State Assembly and Senate retiring in 1989. Evelyn was an avid contributor to local charities especially animal shelters.
She is survived by nephews: Robert Finning, Gary (Sheila) Finning and Stephen (Tammy) Zenzen, several great-nieces and great-nephews and her feline companion Sparky.
A graveside service will be held Friday 11:00am at Memory's Garden Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk-Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204. To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.NewcomerAlbany.com
