Evelyn M. Shimkus

SCHENECTADY-Evelyn M. Shimkus, 57 of Schenectady, NY passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Suffern, NY and was the daughter of the late George J. and Evelyn F. (Bollerman) Pinkham. Evelyn resided in Schenectady for the past twenty four years. She retired from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services as a Principal Account Clerk. Evelyn enjoyed reading and horseback riding. She especially loved spending time with her family and her annual "sister week".
Evelyn is survived by her husband Mark (they would have celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary in October); her children Sarah Patricia Shimkus, Laura Evelyn Shimkus and David Joseph Shimkus. She also leaves behind her siblings Pamela Anne Nilsen (Jack) of Hilton Head, SC, George Joseph Pinkham, Jr. (Trish) of Escondido, CA, Robert James Pinkham (June) of Pompton Lakes, NJ, Thomas Stratton Pinkham (Margaret) of Waldwick, NJ, David Harold Pinkham (Nancy) of Wanaque, NJ, Jan Julie Eisenring (Charles) of Melbourne, FL, Francis "Frank" O'Brien Pinkham of Palm Bay, FL and Charles Emil Pinkham (Linda) of Chandler, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her brother Richard Xavier Pinkham.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a cancer research organization or to a family member, friend or stranger in need, in memory of Evelyn.
