Schenectady- Evelyn M. Regels, four months shy of her 100th birthday, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Emma Osbonlighter and loving wife of 67 years to the late Lauren L. Regels.
Evelyn worked for 40 years as a waitress at many of the top restaurants in the area retiring from the Turf Tavern after 13 years. Her hobbies and passions included; playing cards, baking and bowling. Evelyn was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed helping others and lived by the phrase, "Would give you the shirt off her back."
She is survived by her children, Wayne R. (Sandy) Regels and Barbara E. (Robert) Tessitore. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Cathy, Michael, Patty, Neal and Vincent and seven great grandchildren, Nick, Mary, Tyler, Bridget, Patrick, Angelina and Isabella.
She is predeceased by her brother Sgt. Frederick T. Osbonligther who passed in Okinawa two weeks before the completion of World War II.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00am at Cobblestone Reformed Church, 118 Putnam Road, Schenectady, NY. Burial will take place at a later date.
