ALBANY – Feliks Kosznik, 86, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2009. He was born in Rywald, Poland and was the son of the late Bruno and Franciszka Kosznik. Feliks was taken into forced labor camp by the Germans at the age of 17. When he escaped he joined the Polish Army in the Carpathian Infantry and received a war medal for his service. After helping his allies defeat the Germans, he was sent to England to help with their rebuilding after World War II. Feliks married his beloved wife of 54 years, Margaret (Peggy)Keane Kosznik in 1955 in England. Mr. Kosznik became a U.S. citizen in 1965. He worked for Laurel Heights Hospital in Connecticut for 28 years as a master carpenter. In addition to his beloved wife Peggy, he was also very devoted to his family in Poland. He has one surviving sister in Poland and two brothers and one sister who predeceased him. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews in the United States and Poland. Special thanks is extended to both the VA Hospital Emergency Room staff and the 8th floor nurses, Albany Medical Center Hospital staff and the Albany County Nursing Home staff for all of the care and support given to Feliks during his illness.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
