GUILDERLAND- Felipe Santiago-Rentas, 76, a longtime resident of Newburg, died peacefully on Saturday December 17, 2005 at his Guilderland residence surrounded by his loving family. He struggled with Parkinson's disease for more than 12 years.
Felipe was born on June 26, 1929 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was an extraordinary man. Felipe was a devoted husband and loving father who was deeply committed to his family. In 1967, Felipe left his native land in search of the American dream. He wanted to provide a better life for his family. Felipe succeeded. His family will always remember him for his relentless perseverance and impeccable character. His inner strength and confidence are an inspiration to his children. His family will miss him. He will remain in their hearts forever.
Felipe is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carmen L. Santiago; his loving children, Luz Esthel Santiago, Felipe Santiago Jr., Wanda Santiago, Marilyn Santiago, Miguel Santiago, Evelyn Santiago and Lucy Haidee Santiago. He is the brother of Panchita Santiago and Pablo Nieves; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service will be Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm at the funeral home. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Community Hospice of Albany for their wonderful care and support.
