Floreen Williams-Simon, 90, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 with her loving family by her side. She was born August 19, 1930 in the community Sugar Hill of Clarendon County. Floreen was the devoted wife to the late January Simon for 26 years. She was the daughter of the late Johnny Williams, Sr. and Nettie Maybelle Young Stukes and step-daughter of Willie Stukes. She was reared by her great grandparents, the late Doc Allen and Naomi Deanna Fulton Williams.
Floreen enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also employed by Marshall Ray and Cluett Peabody shirt company. Upon relocating back to Manning she was employed by the local school district as a cook..
Floreen is survived by her children, Nettie M. Williams, and Elleree Rivers, both of Troy, NY; five sisters, Lula Mae White, Manning, SC; Helen W. Benbow, Manning, SC; Ethel Burgess, Philadelphia, PA; Elle Mae Lawson, Baltimore, MD; Hester Brogdon of Manning, SC; one brother, George (Eleanor) Stukes, Manning, SC; and one sister-in-law, Lois Stukes, Troy, NY; ten grandchildren, Lisa Marie Pompey of Troy, NY; Mark Rivers (Holly) of Georgia, VT; Cory Rivers (Dana) of Concord, NC; Lukesha Simon, Cleola Simon, Arie Pugh, Jacqueline Pugh, Venicia M. Rivers and Joanne Brand (Elijah) all of Troy, NY, and Regina R. Rivers of Poughkeepsie, NY; 26 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Janet F. Pugh, five brothers, Johnny Stukes, Wilbert Stukes, Harold Lee Williams, Frank Williams, and Johnny Williams, Jr., three sisters, Willie Mae Thompson and Geraldine Henry, Joann Butler, a special aunt, Amelia Young Peterson, a grandchildren, Glen Martin Pompey, and a great-granddaughter, Rutha Sade Davis.
Family and friends may come to pay their respect at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, on Wednesday, June 2 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Time of Sharing will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flower, the family request that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
