ALBANY – Florence A. Christiana, 85, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Florence was born on August 24, 1923 in Catskill and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Amelia (Bertolucci) Yannone. She worked as an assistant manager for Fanny Farmer in Albany for over 25 years. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany and a member of the VFW Post 8444 Ladies Auxiliary and Military Order of the Cootie Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, bingo, reading, crosswords, and slot machines, but most importantly, spending time with her family.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Linda A. (Doug Hutton) Uzzo of Albany; her grandchildren, James A. Uzzo of Albany, Melissa M. (Robert) Kind of Niskayuna and Adam P. (Cristina) Uzzo of Watervliet; her great-grandchildren, Christian J. Uzzo, Gianna S. Poleto and Robby A. Kind; her brother, Alfred Yannone of Catskill and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony L. Christiana and her brother, James Yannone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Calling hours will be held at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Interment Memory's Garden in Colonie.
