BOND, Florence Loretta, "Flo" (Hargrave), age 100, formerly of Amsterdam passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, after a brief illness. She was a graduate of Public School 93 and received her B.S. from Long Island University. Florence was an active member of United Presbyterian Church where she was appointed Deacon. Florence enlisted in the WAC in 1943 and was a Sargent E5 at the time of her honorable discharge. On July 3rd, 1947, she married James Clayton Bond Sr. of Sunsbury, N.C.. and went on to raise two daughters and a son. Starting as a clerk with the Federal Department of Labor she set course on a career that would later lead to her becoming the Assistant Director of Personnel at New York State Department of Labor.
Although she retired in her sixties, Florence Joanne's Quilting business, toured the Capital Region to teach its connection to the underground
She is predeceased by her husband James Clayton Bond Sr., Her Daughter Joanne B.Lillard and grandson James Clayton Bond III.
She leaves to mourn her loss: a daughter Roxanne Bond; a son James Clayton Bond Jr; a granddaughter Jamie King (David); a grandson Jason Bond (Candice); two great-granddaughters Asha King and Penelope Bond; a great-grandson Jaxon Bond; and a host of relatives, friends and cherished ones who called her Ma.
