Florence Irene Boni, passed away after a brief illness on June 1, 2024 at the age of 94.
Flo was born on September 4, 1929 in Albany to John and Frances (Wolniakowski) Poniatowski. She grew up in Albany, graduated from Albany High and was soon married and raised her family. As the kids got older, Flo began working for Amica Insurance followed by 16 years at the New York State Department of Health, where she remembered fondly the many friendships she made working as a senior clerk.
She enjoyed the time she spent with her loving husband Emilio at their home in Florida sitting in the sunshine where she could always be warm, doing her word search puzzles, listening to the birds, and enjoying the visits from her family. She loved the beach and collecting seashells. She was always up to the challenge of a game of Rummikub. Her time though with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren is what gave her the greatest joy. Flo made sure everyone was well-fed and was quick to share her recipes with anyone who asked. Her beautiful smile and kind heart will remain with us forever.
Flo is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 32 years, Emilio Boni, daughter Lynn (Phillip) Laya, son Robert (Jody) Eckert; stepchildren Lawrence (Kathy) Boni, Christopher Boni (Mary Balzano), and Edward (Susan) Boni; grandchildren; Neil Laya, Bobby Eckert, Marlee Eckert, Kyle (Missy) Boni, Ryan (Alayna) Boni, and Nicholas Boni; great-grandchildren Brook and Millie Boni; along with her many nieces and nephews who always referred to her as “sweet Aunt Flo”.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 6th from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd Colonie NY. A Mass will take place on Friday June 7th at 10 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive Loudonville.
