Florence Burrell

Guilderland- Florence (Lang) Burrell, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital, surrounded by her daughter Mary, granddaughters Shavonne and Billie Jo, and her special friend Rosemary. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Charles and Theresa Lang. Mrs. Burrell was married to Bradley Burrell who passed away in 1989. She was a graduate of the Vincentian Institute, St. Peters School of Nursing and St. Joseph's, where she received her nursing degree. A nurse for many years at St. Peters Hospital she was a Nursing Supervisor at St. Peters and the Albany County Nursing Home. Florence had played a key role in the planning and development of the Teresian House Nursing Home.
Mrs. Burrell is predeceased by her children, Rev. Charles B. Burrell, Anne M. Hill, Robert Burrell and Theresa A. Burrell and her grandson Richard Hill. Florence was a caring and compassionate person who will always be missed and loved by her family.
Mrs. Burrell is survived by her daughter Mary Cameron of Guilderland and her precious dedicated granddaughter, Shavonne Cameron of Guilderland. She is the grandmother of Joseph (Annette) Hill of Galway, Lisa Goyer of Troy, Billie Jo Snow of Schenectady and her son-in-law James Hill of Saratoga. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mary and Shavonne would like to thank the nurses at Hospice; Cathy, Evelyn, Donna and Sherrie, the Chaplain Betsy Ewald, Dr. Lesley Danskin for all their love, care and many hours spent with the family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday morning at 8:00 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Christ the King Church, at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave., Albany, NY 12203, in memory of Florence Burrell.
