Florence Dessormeau

Scotia- Florence E. Slurff-Dessormeau , 85, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Florence was the daughter of the late Michael Anunziatta and Florence Ryan. Florence was the devoted wife to the late Francis E. Slurff and Robert Dessormeau.

Flo was attendee of St. John the Evangelist Church of Schenectady. Flo worked for The NYS Department of Parole before retiring to play bingo which was her passion. In her years, Flo enjoyed bowling. She also was a member of the women's auxiliary of Post 357 VFW. Flo especially enjoyed spending time with her family and had her own rule of not leaving the house without wearing lipstick and having her nails and hair done.

Flo is survived by her son, Michael Frollini; son-in-law, David Frollini; son, Edward Slurff; daughters, Cindy Peppin, Patricia McLean, and Tracey Ambesi; Flo also had a "Special Angel" in her life, her former daughter-in-law, Lourdes "Laurie" Collins. Laurie kept a special friendship with Flo. She took her to her doctor's appointments and attended to anything she might need done, but most of all she kept a beautiful friendship alive and burning. We could never say "Thank-You" enough. Flo is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Boccumini, Audrey Saddlemire and brother, Dennis (Peggy) Anunziatta; along with her 15 grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Kirsten), Brad (Jamie), David, Chet (Stephanie), Heather, Tiffany, Ashley, Nicole, Danielle, Amanda, Brittany, Michael, Mikayla, Michael, Caitlin and 19 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husbands, Flo is predeceased by her sister, Frances Matula; brother, James Anunziatta; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Slurff and Baby McLean.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, on Wednesday August 24, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist at 9:00 am. Entombment will follow the service at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, NY.
