Florence Marie (Jarvis) Lapierre, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Florence was born June 17, 1929 "Bunker Hill Day", to the late Philip and Irene (Walsh) Jarvis. She was educated in Newport, RI Schools then moved to Pawtucket, RI. She was the co-owner of L. Lapierre, Inc. US Mail contractors. Florence was gracious, spiritual, enjoyed fashion, boating, playing cards was a fabulous cook she had a fantastic sense of humor was witty and family time was extremely important to her. In addition to her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband of over 58 years, Leo O. Lapierre Jr. and her brother Clarence Jarvis.
Florence is the beloved mother of of Philip R. Lapierre of Troy, Christine B. Dwyer of North Attleboro, MA, Lisa A. Lapierre of Franklin, MA, Kimberly J. (James) Kelly of Attleboro, MA and Roy J. (Karen) Lapierre of Albany. She is the sister of Marguerite (Jarvis) Smith of Waterbury, CT.. Also surviving are nine cherished grandchildren, six, soon to be 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Florence fought her disease with her sense of humor, positive attitude, grace and dignity. The family would like thank Kristie Johnson with St. Peters hospital for all of her care and compassion and also the staff at the Community Hospice Inn.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 8:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to the Church of St. Clare at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Florence Lapierre.
