ALBANY – Florence Myrtle Potts, 79, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Lulu Mae Sample.
Flo worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles and retired after 15 years of service. She enjoyed playing BINGO and spending time with her family.
Flo was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Elmer W. Potts, Jr.
She was the mother of Allen Potts of Colonie, Susan Potts-Barr of Albany, Richard Potts of Albany, Diane Potts of Ridge Manor, FL, Joann Notar of Rotterdam, and Ann Guyer of Voorheesville; sister to Shirley Albright of Voorheesville, James Sample of Rensselaer and Gerald Sample of Virginia; grandmother to Jennifer, Allen, Allison, Christopher and Emily Potts, Brian, Michelle and Kevin Barr, Richard and Rachael Potts, Warren Bennett and Hannah McHale-Spohn, Matthew Plaine and Joseph, Claire and Kathryn Guyer; great-grandchildren Roy Potts, Kaylina Crissafulli, Cassidy Barr, Brian, Jr. and Brianna Barr, Jeffrey McGough, III and Theresa and Gustave Spohn, and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 6 Greenwood Drive, East Greenbush, NY 12061 in Flo's name.
