Florene Odessa Dickson passed away on May 28, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson's with Lewy Body Dementia.
Florene was born on February 27, 1944, in Jacksonville, Arkansas to John R and Ruth Neely. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years Delbert Dickson. She was also predeceased by her parents John R and Ruth Neely; four brothers: John R. Jr., Vernon, Everdean, Franklin Neely; and three sisters: Dorothy Polk, Velma Shirlee, Colida Holder.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters Dawn Dickson and Courtney (Leonard) Noisette; grandsons Shawn and Aaron Noisette; great granddaughters Sanaiya and Raejah Noisette; two sisters, Barbara (Joe) Bolden and Carolyn (Chester) Hunt of Jacksonville, Arkansas. Florene is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Since the early 1970s Florene lived her life serving Jehovah as a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She valued the time spent in field service and attending conventions with the many friends she made over the years.
Florene loved reaching out to family and friends, attending cookouts, decorating her home and indulging her sweet tooth. Everyone who spent time around her always felt her calming presence and remarked on her kindness to others.
She spent her early years as a homemaker attending to family, and she was a fierce protector of and advocate for Dawn. She entered the workforce as a Home Care Aide at Parsons Children and Family Center working the overnight shift on the weekends until she retired.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 10am-11am, with a service at 11am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, New York.
