Floyd L. Milbank, Jr.

Floyd Lewis Milbank Jr., 93, of Loudonville, NY, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, October 29, 2021. He was the husband of Isabelle (Burbank) Milbank with whom is spent 66 years of marriage.

Floyd was born in Schenectady, NY, son of the late Floyd L. Milbank Sr. and Mabel (Rice) Milbank, and brother David Milbank. He is survived by his son John B Milbank and Jerri of Westborough, MA; daughter Anne M. Barresi and David of Latham, NY, grandchildren, Jason Milbank and Mary, Laurin Barresi, Jared Milbank and Cecilia and great grandson Ananda.

Floyd loved Lake George, growing up camping on the islands during the summers with his parents and brother. He especially loved swimming, fishing, boating, camping and hiking at the Lake.

He was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School, class of 1947. Floyd continued to support his class and was on the reunion committee until 2019. He then attended the University of Maine (Phi Gamma Delta) where he was a prolific athlete. holding records in the shot put, later he became an avid runner.
He received his Master's Degree from Springfield College.

Floyd joined the Navy in 1952. He served his country in the Korean Conflict on the USS Wadleigh for the next 4 years. After active duty he joined the reserves and continued to serve for many years achieving the rank of Commander.

He then embarked on his career with Veterans Administration in various positions, including Corrective Therapy and then moving on to Administration. In 1977, he and his family moved to Loudonville, NY where he worked at the Albany VA, as the Assistant Director. He has a special place in his heart to serving veterans. When he retired from the VA, he became the director of the Albany Guardian Society continuing his life of service to those in need. He would also take time each day to lead the residents in prayer.

Floyd was a man of great faith. He joined numerous congregations as he and his family moved during his time with the VA. Floyd and his family joined Calvary United Methodist in 1977. He enjoyed leading the men's group and participating in numerous study groups. He and Isabelle were also active members of the visitation team.

Floyd spent his retirement years at the family cottage in Huletts Landing, NY. He also became an active member of the Mountain Grove Memorial Church in Huletts Landing. He and Isabelle also traveled extensively.

He was a member of the Early Dutch Settlers Society, past president of the Military Officers Association of America, Pruyn House, Colonie Historical Association, Friends of William K Sanford Library, the LGA (Lake George Association) and Fiends of Historic Huletts Landing and the University of Maine (M) club.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20,2021 at 11am at Calvary United Methodist Church 15 Ridge Place, Latham, NY.

A celebration on life and interment will be held in the spring or summer of 2022 at Mountain Grove Memorial Church, Huletts Landing.
