ALBANY~
Frances Elizabeth Bates, of Albany, was called to her Lord on July 24, 2017 with her family by her side.
Fran was the daughter of the late William and Virginia (Cappallo) McClune. She was the sister of the late Barbara Basil, her twin, and the late William McClune. She is survived by her younger sister Joan Askew. Fran was also predeceased by her companion, Robert P. Bates.
Fran was the adored mother of Robert J. Bates (Mary Rose) and Dawn Sharpe-Cronin (Scott). The light of Fran's life were her three grandsons; Justin Bates (Mary Grace), Kevin Bates, and Austin Sharpe. Her grandsons lived and loved to tease and make their beloved "Grammy" laugh, and she cherished every minute of it. She left them with life-long memories which will be her legacy.
She is also survived by her dearest and most treasured friend, Theresa Cavaleri who was her "comrade", her partner in crime, and third sister by love.
The Family would like to thank the entire Cavaleri Family for their love of Fran, support in our time of need, and generosity. Additional thanks to the staff of St. Peter's Hospice Inn and especially Dr. Porter and Sally Mann, R.N. who took outstanding care of our Mom and family.
To honor Fran's wishes, there will be a private service at the convenience of the family.
