Frances "Frankie" Marguerite (Wilkinson) Burt of Niskayuna, formerly of Loudonville, 94, passed peacefully on November 30, 2022, after a brief illness. Born in Catskill, NY, she was the youngest of five children born to the late James and Sarah (Quick) Wilkinson of Catskill.
She was the loving wife of the late Richard Burt who passed Oct. 30, 2019. She was the proud mother of Brian R. (Mary T. Pinkans) of Schenectady, and Kevin D. (Kari Blood) of Hadley, Mass.; and loving grandmother to Zachary Brian and Alexandria Frances, both of Schenectady, children of Brian and Mary.
During World War II, Frances proudly volunteered in Catskill as a war plane observer for the A.A.F. Ground Observer Corps. She also worked at General Electric in Coxsackie, where she met her future husband, Richard. They married June 18, 1955. After Richard's several GE job relocations, they settled down in Syracuse for many years, leaving in 1976 to head to G.E. in Schenectady.
Frances was a homemaker throughout her marriage, and enjoyed cooking and baking, crafts, flower arranging and gardening. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were the center of her life
The family will celebrate her life with a short service at 11 a.m. Friday at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY, immediately followed by interment at Memory Gardens, Colonie. Those wishing to send thoughts of sympathy and comfort can send cards and notes in care of the funeral home.
