ALBANY- Frances DiNovo Diacetis, 86, of Albany entered the Gates of Heaven on Wednesday August 29, 2007 and was reunited with her beloved husband Albert T. Diacetis Sr.
She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Philip and Antonina DiNovo. Frances had worked for several years at New York State Office of General Services, retiring in 1980. She was a longtime active member of Louise Corning Seniors of Albany. She was Past President of the Women's Club and a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 188. Frances was recognized with numerous awards for her countless volunteer hours with the City of Albany RSVP and the Senior Citizens Center. She received a Certificate of Excellence from former Mayor Thomas Whalen for her volunteer work with Park Playhouse. She was awarded the Suny @ Albany Public Service Award for outstanding volunteer contributions and the New York State Senior Citizen of the Year by the NY State Senate and Assembly in 1995.
Frances is the beloved mother of Albert T. (Michelle) Diacetis Jr. of Guilderland, Mary Ann Diacetis and her fiancé Rocco Palmer of Schenectady and Antoinette (Jack) Engel of Greenfield Center. She is the sister of James F. DiNovo of Florida. Frances is the cherished grandmother of Stephanie (Christopher) Redmond, Meridith Diacetis, Christopher Diacetis (Kourtney Van Patten), Joshua Engel, Natasha Engel, Jennifer, Brendon and Julie Malkowski. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Diacetis family would like to thank the wonderful staff on 5 McAuley at St. Peter's Hospital for their dedicated and loving care of Frances.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 8:15 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Margaret Mary Church at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. In keeping with one of Fran's favorite charities, memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Ass'n, 1 Marcus Blvd. Albany NY 12205.
