ALBANY – Frances Aurora Theresa Pompa Katchmar, 78, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, after a brief illness. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Grace Pompa. She was an Albany resident for all of her life and a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School. Frances worked for many years at AT & T, New York Telephone and Verizon, from where she retired. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, sewing and caring for her beloved husband. Frances is the beloved wife of 42 years to William Katchmar. She is the devoted mother of Ronald W. Katchmar and his wife, Maria of Cohoes and Grace Katchmar and her fiancé, Jay Mason of Westerlo. She is the cherished grandmother of Jeannine and Victoria Katchmar and Hailey and Tristan Mason. She is the sister-in-law of Donna Pompa and close cousin of Tony DeMasso and his wife, Pat. Frances was predeceased by her brother, William D. Pompa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the CCU staff at Albany Memorial Hospital for the care they gave to Frances during her illness.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made at newcomerfamily.com
