Frances L. Stiffen

COLONIE – Frances L. Stiffen, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Frances was born on December 27, 1926 in New York City and was the daughter of the late Catherine Holsinger and Frank Kovaleski.
Frances worked as a cashier at Shoprite in Colonie for many years before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John F. Stiffen; her children, John F. Stiffen, Jr., Michael (Gloria) Stiffen, Patricia (John) Walter, Edward (Cynthia) Stiffen and Janice (James) Sweet; her grandchildren, Michael Jr., Marcella, John Jr., Alicia, Edward John and Chantal, Anthony, Marcie and Chase; her great-grandchildren, Marra, Angelina and Xavier; her sister, Catherine Marin; her brothers, Benjamin and Frank Kovaleski and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 7:45 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday (today) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
