Guilderland—Frances Pensabene, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Daughters of Sarah palliative care, where she received compassionate and impeccable attention.
Born on May 28, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe Ferrante and Maria Conti. Frances resided in Brooklyn until moving to Saugerties with her family in 1960, and then to Amsterdam in 1986 and finally to Guilderland in 2011.
Frances was an extremely creative and talented seamstress, and a retired member of ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers Union). She also had an affinity for Norman Rockwell's creations, illustrating his depictions of common people in every day life.
Her true passion was for family and friends, expressed through her cooking…she did not accept to just be a good cook of all the dishes passed down through one's family, based on their heritage…but to be a great cook, by experimenting, interacting, exploring and perfecting her culinary creations.
Frances is survived by her children, Frank Pensabene Jr. (Caroline Nickerson) and Mary Anne Pensabene-Milano. She is the grandmother of Jason Pensabene (Lindsey), Joshua Pensabene (Kimberly), Talia Lindheimer (Eric), and Philip Milano Jr. (Rebecca); and loved her seven great grandchildren, Jacob, Harrison, Zachary, Lucy, Briella, Gavin and Landon.
In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband Frank Pensabene, brother Cirino (Murphy) Ferrante, and twin sister, Vincenza Urrato.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 9 at 4 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 1 to 4 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be Monday, April 10, at 11am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Frances Pensabene to Double H Hole in the Woods Ranch, 97 Hidden Valley Rd., Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 or at https://www.doublehranch.org/.
