Francis Leo Ahl, age 77, died peacefully surrounded by his loving children and nieces at his bedside on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, at St. Peter’s Hospital after a long illness.
Fran was born on November 11, 1946, in Cobleskill to the late Ethel Ahl (Salisbury) and Ellery Ahl. He grew up in Rotterdam where he attended Schalmont High School. Fran retired in 2011 after a successful career of 43 years at General Electric along with running a paper route with the Schenectady Gazette for 31 years. Fran held the title of board member of the Local 301 Union for 28 years and sat on numerous boards throughout his lifetime such as the Troy Housing Board, United Way, Schenectady Day Nursery, IUE Executive Board, GE Share Fund Board of Administrators, Transims FCU and Mac Induction FCU. He was a Corvette enthusiast, owning 12 of them himself during his lifetime, and belonged to several Corvette clubs in the area.
Fran is predeceased by his wife of 26 years Jacqueline Ahl. He is survived by two loving children Aiden (Ashley) Ahl of Rotterdam and Cynthia (Carl) Orsino of Glenville. He is also survived by five siblings: Jacqueline (Andrew Ruth) Ahl of Pattersonville, Ellery "Spike" (Carol) Ahl, Jr. of Glenville, Alvin Ahl of Pattersonville, Lewis Ahl of Pattersonville, and Doris (Thomas) Winterstein of Scotia. Fran leaves behind four loving grandchildren; Briana Cole, Britney Cole, Brooke Cole, and Ainsley Ahl along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm, with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 7:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00am in the First Reformed Church, 224 N Ballston Ave, Scotia, NY 12302. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery, 40 Fehr Avenue, Schenectady NY.
