Guilderland- Francis "Frank" Amigo, husband of Charlotte Amigo, passed away after a brief illness on the morning of December 29, 2022 in Guilderland New York.
Born December 28, 1936 in Bethlehem PA, he was the son of the late Frederick Amigo and Mary C. Heimpel.
Frank attended Liberty High School, joined the US Air Force at the age of 18 discharged as a Staff Sargent. He then attended Moravian College and continued on to receive a Master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He had a lifelong career with New York State that included, Division of Budget, Department of Social Services, NYS Police and the Retired Public Employees Association. He was a devout Christian and member of Lynnwood Reformed Church where he was a past deacon, member of the choir, and men's brotherhood. He was also a member of the Guilderland Elks. He had a love for music, singing, playing the piano, guitar, saxophone, clarinet and was in the marching band in High School. He loved sports too, watching as well as playing. He loved taking the whole family to the beach every summer.
His most important achievement in life was who he was and how many lives he touched. He was the perfect example of a family man. An incredibly devoted, loving husband, a loving, kind, patient father, grandfather, brother, uncle that was like a father, a friend who was always willing to help. A father figure to many of his daughter's friends. His kindness, compassion, love, humor, empathy was immeasurable. He never raised his voice. His door was always open. He could inspire laugher with few words and exude warmth with a soft smile.
He is survived by his soulmate and bride, Charlotte, of over 60 years, friend since childhood. His devoted daughters, Lisa Amigo-Nolan (Chris) Albany NY, Stephanie Amigo-Hausamann (Eric) East Greenbush NY, Jennifer Amigo-Wayne (Marc) Lenexa, KS, and Linda Testa (Steve) Schenectady NY. His beloved grandchildren Matthew, Hannah, Brian, Emily, Christian, Rebecca, Joshua, Ian, Sarah, Jeremiah, Joseph, Lindsey and great grandson Parker. He has so many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends that he loved so very much.
A special thanks to the caregivers of our mother that made sure he was cared for as well just because he was so awesome.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Wednesday January 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A church service will be held on Thursday January 5th at 10:00 am at Lynnwood Reformed Church 3714 Carmen Road Schenectady. Internment immediately following at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Albany.
