Francis K. Fahlander

COLONIE- Francis (Mickey) K. Fahlander, 84, of Colonie, was called to Heaven on Thursday December 24, 2009 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home after a brief illness.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Frank J. and Minnie Muellin Fahlander. Mickey was a WWII Army veteran having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a truck driver for thirty five years with M & R Trucking and Dubrey's Express. He was a member of Teamsters Local #294. Mickey was an avid bowler and participated with the Silver Sneakers program. He enjoyed vacationing in Cape Cod and spending time with his cherished family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia Wells Fahlander. He is the devoted father of Debra Notar, Margaret Knickerbocker (Daniel), Patricia A. Starr (John) and the late Michael K. Fahlander. He is the loving grandfather of Jonathan and Bridget Knickerbocker, Robin Cheetham (Chris Gaige), Christopher and Shawn Notar and Kayla Starr. He is the great grandfather of Mackenzie and Christian Gaige. He will be dearly missed by his cherished canine companion, Samson.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 9:30 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorys Garden. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Pine West Plaza, Washington Ave Ext.,Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Francis K.
