WESTERLO – Frank A. Palmeri, Sr., 57, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Frank was born on August 27, 1953 in Albany and was the son of the late Rita L. (Dowen) Childers and Harold "Happy" LeMay and is the stepson of Charles Childers, Jr.
Frank was presently employed at the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance as an Administrative Assistant in the Executive Bureau. With his love and passion for music, he was the founder, lead singer and lead guitarist for the Nomads. He enjoyed entertaining at numerous benefits for charitable events.
Frank's greatest loves were music and spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren and his K9 companion, Rocky. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Guilderland Elks Lodge 2480 and a member of the American Legion Joseph Zaloga Post 1520.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Rosemary K. (Girgenti) Palmeri; his children, James Mikulec (Denise), Frank Palmeri, Jr. (Stacy), Robert Palmeri (Galadriel), Joseph Mikulec (Christine), Laura Mikulec (Jeremiah), and Anthony Palmeri (Amanda); his brother, Harold LeMay (Christine); his sisters, Henrietta Seaburg (Rob) and Michelle Hines (Scott); his mother-in-law, Mary Girgenti; his sisters-in-law, Gloria McIntosh (James) and Lorraine Rock (Nelson) and his brother-in-law, Nicholas Girgenti. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, four special aunts, many cousins and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Childers III and father-in-law, Nicholas Girgenti.
Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Graceland Cemetery in Albany.
At the family's request, memorial contributions may be made to Recreation for Developmentally Disabled, Capital District DDSO Albany Recreation, c/o 500 Balltown Rd., Niskayuna, NY 12309 in memory of Frank A. Palmeri, Sr.
