Frank A. Schmidt

SCHENECTADY – Frank A. Schmidt, 66, passed away suddenly at Albany Medical Center on Thursday, June 12, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Naomi (McKeone) Schmidt.

Frank retired from the Town of Niskayuna Highway Department. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles and politics. Frank cherished his time with his grandchildren, who were his world. All three adored their "Papa" beyond words.

Along with his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sister, Mabel Schmidt Wagstaff.

He will be missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Christine; sons Jason of Schenectady, Joshua (Catharine) of Schenectady, and Jeremy (Heather) of Troy; grandchildren Hannah, Jordan and Lucas, whom he loved very much; siblings Clarence Schmidt (Betsy) of New Hampshire, William Humphrey of Rotterdam, Margaret Lupi of Schenectady, Eddie Schmidt (Marsha) of Florida, and Larry Schmidt (Janice) of Albany, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 9:00 am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 2216 Rosa Road, Schenectady. Inurnment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Albany, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 in Frank's name.
