SCHENECTADY- Frank Cerniglia, 86, of Schenectady, passed away on Saturday evening at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Schenectady and was the son of the late Salvatore and Paula Cerniglia.
Frank was a WWII Army veteran and served during the Battle of Bulge. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He had operated Frank's Trucking many years ago. Frank was employed at the Army Depot and more recently as a clerk with the US Postal Service in Schenectady. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1092, D.A.V. Chapter 88 and the VFW Post 357. Frank was an avid stamp and coin collector. He was the step son of Rose Cerniglia and the husband of the late Phyllis Mayer Cerniglia.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Beatrice) Cerniglia and Carl (Linda) Cerniglia. He is the brother of Able, Angelo and Carl Cerniglia, Mary Breitenstein, Connie Grant and the late Vincent, Benjamin and Armond Cerniglia. He is the grandfather of Joseph, Julie, Sandra, Richard, Carl Jr. and Deborah. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorys Garden.
