COLONIE – Frank A. Cervera, 87 passed away August10, 2005 at St. Peters Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Albany on December 25, 1917 to the late Antonia and Matilda Manganaro Cervera. He is the stepson of the late Antoinette Della Rocca Cervera.
Frank was a First Sergeant in the US army Air Force, 397th Fighter Squadron during World War II. He was retired from Local 197 Boilermakers Union as a welder. Frank also operated Cervera's Welding Service in Albany for over 50 years. In his earlier, years, Frank was employed at Lombardo's Restaurant. He was a member of Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post, Polish American Citizens Club and the National Rifle Association.
He is the devoted husband of 63 years to Theresa Martelloni Cervera; cherished father of Anthony (Cheryl) Cervera of Colonie, Fran (Rey) Sanchez of Merritt Island, Florida and Maryann (William) Van Vranken of Colonie; brother of Neil Cervera a nd the late Carmen Cervera; stepbrother of Mary Nardiello Cervera, Camille( Devine) Cervera, and Joseph Cervera; loving grandfather of Frank, Michael, Dawn, Brian, Cherie, Jim and the late William Jr.; great grandfather of Angelica, Antonio, Ariana, and Nicholas. He will be missed by his pet cockatiel, Elvis.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 9:30 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 8:30am at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Memorys Garden. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament School, 607 Central Ave Albany NY 12206 in memory of Frank A. Cervera.
