Frank Joseph Di Pietro, originally from Sicily then relocating to Albany, NY at the age of 8, was a man whose passion for life was equaled only by his gift for storytelling and his fondness for red wine served with extra ice. He peacefully departed this life at home on April 4, 2024, after battling a prolonged illness. He was 75 years old.
Frank lived a life filled with adventures with his family, laughter, and love. He was an avid fisherman, a huge football fan, a proud Vietnam veteran, and a lover of the ocean and beach. Family was everything to Frank, and his heart overflowed with love for those close to him.
Frank had a knack for the thrill of the gamble, finding excitement in everything from lottery tickets to horses and everything in between. His enthusiasm for life's uncertainties brought color and excitement to every moment.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife and mother to their son, Patricia Di Pietro, his best buddy and brother Joseph Di Pietro, and his cherished second wife Theresa Taylor, His Parents, Dominica and Giovani Di Pietro will also be waiting to greet their son on the other side. Frank leaves behind a legacy of love, sarcasm, and laughter.
He is survived by his devoted son and partner in crime, Frank Di Pietro, who shared in so many of his adventures and mischief. Frank was also blessed with a daughter (in law) and personal pastry chef, Heather Di Pietro, whose side he took everytime in discussions. His two granddaughters, or as he would call them, "his girls", Kelsey Di Pietro and Brie Devenney, and grandson Ryan Devenney, were the lights of his life, and he reveled in their every accomplishment and joy.
Frank is also survived by the family matriarch, Aunt Angie Commisso, as well as his dear brother and sister, Mary (James) Merrill and Anthony (Donna) Di Pietro. Among those who remain to cherish his memory are his sister-in-law and close friend, Mary Anne Di Pietro, alongside several beloved nieces, nephews, and friends who illuminated his world with warmth and joy.
Frank's family would like to say a very special thank you to VIA Hospice, especially August, Gorgeous, and Brian who were more of a comfort than they will ever know.
To Frank's Angels, Arista, Mindy and Lori, there will never be words to express this family's gratitude for your warmth, professionalism, and care for him in recent months. You brightened every day and were certainly PRECIOUS to him!
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Saving Grace K9s, in honor of Frank's deep respect for his veteran brothers and sisters, and his love of animals. https://www.savinggracek9s.org/how-you-can-help.html
Frank Joseph Di Pietro will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being the butt of his jokes and the audience for his many tales of mischief and mayhem with his brothers, children, and friends. May his spirit continue to shine bright in the hearts of those who loved him.
