d. January 31, 2007

CHARLTON – Frank Evans, of Charlton, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born on February 10, 1926, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Emily Evans. Frank was a long time resident of the Town of Charlton. He served in the 8th Aircorps during World War II on Okinawa as a crew chief and on B-29's. He was present for the Japanese surrender. Frank enjoyed flying and flew many types of small aircraft, including pioneering in the ultra light and powered parachutes of today. He was and avid sportsman and active in scouting for many years. He was a mentor to many young people. Frank will not only be missed by his family and friends, but the community and many people throughout the country. He was a loving brother and giving friend, gone before us, but surely never forgotten. If you saw Frank, then you've seen the "Bear." Franks is survived by his brothers, William (Bud) Evans and Elmer Evans. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Charles Evans.
