Francis Theodore Koniszewski, Jr, "Frank" passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, New York after a brief illness. Born July 2, 1944 in Albany, New York, he was the son of the late Francis T Sr. and Jeanette L (Gorzynski) Koniszewski.
He was a graduate of Colonie Central High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He joined the New York State Police in 1967, serving 33 years before retiring in 2000 as a Technical Sergeant after many years at Troop T then finally State Police Headquarters in Albany
In addition to being a NYS Trooper, he installed carpet with his best friend, Bill Lyman, having learned the trade working for his Uncle Stanley at Konis Acme Carpets and for a short while had his own side business doing the same.
Frank married Joan Herrington in 1965 and had four children, divorcing in 1980. He married Colleen Gallup nee White in 1984 and became step-father to Donna (Kevin) Fahd and later step-grandfather to Alyssa and Megan, divorcing in 2012.
Growing up, he enjoyed many summers camping at Lake George and later with his own family at Lincold Pond and Thompson's Lake. In his younger years, Frank enjoyed hunting, shark fishing trips on Montauk Point, and bowling.
Frank is survived by his four children, Francis Koniszewski, III, Lisa Higersberger (Marek), Michael Koniszewski (Bernadette), and Kasmira Shunk (Christopher); grandchildren, Theodore, Sarah, Alexandra, Nathan, Abby, Gerik, Kaden, Mackenzie, Christopher, and Brody, step-grandchildren, Patryk and Adrian Higersberger; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Nora, and Theodore. He is also survived by his sister, Marian Anderson (Lee), brother-in-law Gerald Schlaff and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Schlaff.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, from 4-7PM. A Mass will be held at 11AM on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at The Church of St.Clare, Colonie. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
