NOVI, MICHIGAN – Francis T. Koniszewski, 88, died December 1, 2005. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Mary Skirzynska Koniszewski and brother of the late Theodore, Edward, Walter, John and Stanley Koniszewski, Tillie Olwert and Sophie Skumurski. A 1935 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, he was married to the late Jeannette Gorsynski Koniszewski in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater with the 83rd Infantry Division during the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland Campaigns, receiving the Purple Heart for severe battle injuries, and the Bronze Star. Frank lived in Albany with his family until 1950 when they relocated to the Village of Colonie. He was employed as a sheet metal worker for many years with E.W. Tompkins and retired as a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #83 in Albany. Frank is survived by his son, Frank T. (Colleen) Koniszewski, Jr. of Colonie and his daughters, Kathleen (Gerald) Schlaf and Marian (Lee) Anderson of Wolverine Lake, MI. He is the grandfather of Frank T. Koniszewski, III of Clifton Park, Lisa (Mark) Higersberger and Donna (Kevin) Fahd of Colonie, Michael (Bernadette) Koniszewski of Waterford, Kasmira (Christopher) Shunk of Latham, Bryan (Rebecca) Anderson of Georgia, Andrew (Susan) Anderson, Deborah (Steven) Loftus, Lynne Schlaf and Barbara (Mark) Shuler, all of Michigan. Also surviving is his sister, Josephine Seyboth of Albany, seventeen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 5:00to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 9:00 at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Frank T. Koniszewski
