COLONIE – Frank J. Levanites, 83, of Colonie, passed away on Saturday April 2, 2005 at Teresian House Nursing Home. He was born in Kinderhook and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Kolumbas Levanites.
Frank served in the US Army during WWII. He was a meat cutter with Tobin Packing in West Albany for 33 years. Along with his wife Mickey, they were foster parents for over140 children for most of their life. Frank enjoyed bowling, baseball and gardening. He was a member of the Polish American Club, and a longtime communicant and usher at St. Clare's Church.
Frank's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Teresian House, especially those on the 3rd floor Carmel Gardens.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Anna (Mickey) Lamb Levanites. He is the devoted father of James J. Levanites (Ellen), Robert Levanites (Carol Burgess) all of Colonie and David Levanites (Marylynne) of Saratoga Springs. He is the brother of Bernice Clayton, Joseph Levanites and the late John and Peter Levanites. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8:30 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Clare's Church at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday form 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Memorys Garden.
